How the landed cost is calculated
The delivered (CIF landed) cost of importing a Chinese EV is a stack of components — and the order matters, because each tax is charged on the running total beneath it:
| Step | What it is | Charged on |
|---|---|---|
| FOB China | Vehicle price loaded at the Chinese port | — |
| + Ocean freight | RoRo or container to your port (region-based) | — |
| + Marine insurance | Typically ~1.1% of vehicle + freight | FOB + freight |
| = CIF value | The basis customs uses | — |
| + Import duty | Country tariff on the CIF value | CIF |
| + VAT / consumption tax | IVA, IGV, VAT — the compounding layer | CIF + duty |
| + Local fees | Recycling fee (EAEU), clearance, brokerage | per shipment |
| = Landed cost | What the car really costs you delivered | — |
This is why the headline duty rate can mislead: a market with 6% duty but 19% VAT can land dearer than one with 10% duty and 16% VAT, because VAT is levied on the CIF plus the duty. The calculator does this compounding for you and lets you compare all ten markets at once. For an exact quote to your port, model and quantity, send an inquiry or message us on WhatsApp.
Disclaimer: estimates are indicative for comparison only and not a customs valuation or a binding quote. Rates, incentives and fees change and depend on your vehicle's exact classification. Always confirm the current figures for your shipment.
