How are EVs shipped from China — RoRo or container?

Short answer: EVs ship by RoRo (roll-on/roll-off) where available, which is fast and economical, or by container for extra protection and consolidation.

There are two main methods:

  • RoRo — vehicles are driven onto a dedicated car carrier. It is the fastest and usually cheapest option on major routes.
  • Container — the car is secured inside a container, giving extra protection and allowing consolidation of parts or multiple units. Preferred for high-value models like the Zeekr 001 or Li L7, or ports without RoRo service.

Lead times run roughly 25–55 days depending on destination. We quote the best method for your port.
