Will a Chinese EV's charging port work with CCS2 chargers abroad?

Short answer: China's domestic DC fast-charging standard is GB/T, different from Europe's CCS2 — check whether your specific model ships in an export trim first.

Cars built for China's home market use the GB/T DC fast-charging standard, which is not physically compatible with CCS2 plugs used across Europe, the Middle East and much of Latin America.

  • AC (Type 2) home/slow charging — most Chinese EVs already support the Type 2 connector used internationally, so overnight AC charging is rarely an issue.
  • DC fast charging — some export-trim models (BYD, MG, Chery global builds) come factory-fitted with a CCS2 DC port; domestic-market units use GB/T and need a CCS2-to-GB/T adapter or a GB/T-compatible fast charger.

Tell us your destination market and we'll confirm the exact charging spec for the model you're ordering before it ships.
